UVAFME (originally FAREAST; see Yan & Shugart 2005) was first developed by Hank Shugart and Yan Xiaodong in 2005 at the University of Virginia's Environmental Sciences Department. It has since been used at Northern Arizona University, Goddard Space Flight Center, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
